Finally - it's a Baofeng that breaks the 5-watt barrier. There are many models claiming to output 8-watts (some even say 10-watts) but this model certainly packs a punch. If you need more than the 3-5-watts offered by the BF-F8 or UV-5R, this is the radio for you - Plus, it's the same size/shape as the infamous UV-5R so retains compatibility with the accessories but with the extra power output. This is the same radio sold elsewhere as a BF-F8HP.
We also like the receiver's front-end as it's a big improvement on the UV-5R and only starts to struggle when very close to a strong signal on another frequency.
We supply it pre-programmed with popular 2m/70cm simplex frequencies, too!
Why not treat yourself to a few accessories? They're always cheaper on this page when bought with the radio!
Although these can be used "as-is" or programmed for repeaters via the front-panel, we strongly suggest the addition of a USB Programming Cable along with the excellent free CHIRP software to manage the memories. For Essex buyers (and those who have their radios programmed at CARS' Skills Nights) - these are the default memories...
