Items We Don't Sell!

We are often asked about whether we sell a particular product or can we make a particular "thing" as a one-off and the most common reason for not offering it is that we cannot beat the price of an another supplier and/or the margin is just not worth the "hassle" for us. Also, more and more people are happy to buy from China and wait a bit longer for their item to arrive.

So, we decided to list the most popular "Why don't you sell xxx?" on this page!

• Trancseivers - There's simply not enough margin when competing with Chinese sellers (and they're appearing "next day" on Amazon, too) and there's also the expectation of support/programming on a codec/system that we may not be able to fully test at our QTH.
   
• Aerial Wire - This is catered for by other suppliers, but CPC offer CB19925 (white) and CB23702 (green/yellow) which are good /P aerial wires
   
• PL259 Plugs - We simply cannot beat the price of places like Moonraker for their Multi-packs (in RG58, RG8-mini , RG213 plus the RG213-size compression-fit type.
   
• Custom Patch Cables (other than our range of PL259/RG8-mini)
  Sadly, we are unable to provide custom cables as some people were a little miffed for us including "parts and labour" to do the job!  If you're unable to make these yourself, your local club may be able to help.
   
• Complete HF Aerials - Dipoles are pretty straightforward, but there are several factors that affect their resonant frequency: Height above ground, flat-top or inverted-v etc.  We do sell a Dipole Centre Kit allowing you to create an easy feed-point for an HF Doublet/Dipole.
   
• Small 31-mix snap-on Ferrites - Although we sell the big "Problem-Solver" (as featured in the "In Practice" articles, the smaller USB/audio cable ferrites made from 31-mix can be bought from Aerial Parts of Colchester.  We do of course stock the "generic" (43-mix equivalent) 5mm and 13mm varieties which work well on keyboards, mice, speaker cables and also VHF aerials (like our Slim-Jim Kit).
   
• Custom DC Cables (4/6-pin) for Transceivers - This is something we've looked at, but not in a position to offer yet

Prices of items (notably on raw materials like ferrites) may vary on a weekly basis due to supplier costs - quantity discounts on ferrites are shown on their respective pages, so if you're looking at a club/group project, it's usually best to combine your items into a single order for a good discount.
